I’ve come across a 1930’s delivery bike and bought it. It is in original condition and rides well. Having looked on the web I do believe it is a Dunelt which were made in Sheffield. It is a “High Gravity” bike with the wheels each the same as opposed to the “Low Gravity” which has a smaller front wheel, […]
Went sailing in the Wayfarer today. First sail since moving to Sheppey Sailing Club. Went with an expert Chas- very cold solid ice in bottom of boat. Boat went very well but think other commitments and lack of crew next year will preclude me from using it much. I will put it for sale in the Spring. […]
Oct 17th. 3 golds , two silvers at the Medways. This included my first ever freestyle win thanks to a disqualification by someone who can beat me by miles. Most importantly my times were all fractionally better than in the Kents.
Having now stated turbo training – 3 times this week and then run for 15 mins, should I be thinking Tri- athlon. Well I am thinking about it, all depends on how my body takes the winter training.
On 13th Oct I did my first two up 10 mile time trial with Dave Parker from my wobblers group. Good course we did 30.12. Not bad when one considers Dave’s age at 74! Although we were the slowest pair, we were the only ones who cycled to the start. In my case about 22 […]
Had a go at a Time Trial again on the Wednesday morning Great Chart course. Used new bike but didn’t put any tri- bars on. My time was 28.38 which was OK. No nasty back problems as yet so may well have a go again next season. Will need some spinning training over the winter.
An enjoyable ride today. Did a total of 104 mile in 6 hrs 45 min riding time. Only 16 riders on the 100 mile so I was alone most of the time. Sunny but very windy and a lovely route over the Canterbury Downs. The new bike performed really well. I did get a sore […]
Now the kitchen is finished I have bought a new road bike. Giant TCR4. Very light, carbon and fast. Hope to use it for shorter quicker runs, leaving the other Giant for the longer distances. Mike the son is having my old specialised to make room for the new one.
Slowing up now in my sprint swimming. First time I have been beaten in the 50m Breastroke for several years. A close second but not good enough. Less time to train now with cycling and other commitments. Still I did get one gold in the 100 m breaststroke, two silvers and a bronze, so can’t […]
I started the SFACC 300k at 2.00 am with no sleep. That was my first mistake. I took plenty of salt and other minerals early on but no salt later. Had a great ride with friend Trevor through the night, watched the full moon glow over the channel and saw the sunrise over the River […]
