Mt Ventoux, a near 2000m mountain sitting proudly in Provence, Southern France has long been an attraction for cyclists to ride one of the hardest climbs in Europe. It is infamous for claiming the life of Tom Simpson in the Tour de France , probably one of the UK’s best ever cyclists in the 1960s. It rises relentlessly for […]
My first ever triathlon completed. 400m : 20k: 5k 1:23:07 Pleased with result. 74th out of 137 and came first in my age group and won a trophy and bottle of wine! Enjoyable event although as expected legs wobbly after the ride. Next target is the marathon distance at Seaford in […]
Latest grandson born on Monday 23rd May to Stuart and Natalie. Brother to Oliver, Daniel and Grace who passed away over 4 years ago, it doesn’t seem possible. Toby is doing well and the family are over the moon about him. Oliver has yet to calm down he is so excited. It is lovely to […]
First running event for 25 years. Enjoyed it in a nostalgic kind of way, but 10k is the most I would want to do especially with the knee replacement. Stuart and his dad-in-law Phil ran also. 48 mins Stu, me 51 and phil 54 so all pretty close. I now know I will be able to run […]
A 72 mile ride which included a pb for the Great Chart course. 28.22. Nice ride back to Benover with Les. It’s great to be able to ride with a 78 year old legend. He raced as well, but disappointed with his time. Tr-athlon training getting harder it seems. Not long to go now.
Rode the Big Dipper Sportive with Stuart and Steve. It was 103 miles and took us over the Chilterns. Lovely warm and sunny weather. Very hilly as the name suggests but incredibly beautiful scenery. Great training for the coming tri-athlon which I am now on course for in June. Have done some running. 6 to 7Km maximum […]
Great 207Km ride. Kind weather and good company with Trevor. 12 hours on the road, over 9 hours riding but still one and a half hours quicker than last year. The wind direction on the marsh helped this time.
First TT at Harrietsham for a couple of years and also with new bike. Felt I rode well but time of 28.09 was disappointing. Conditions were excellent so no excuses. I think I will use TT as just part of my Triathlon training which is going OK at the moment. Ran 5k the other day […]
The annual gala at Crawley beckoned once again. This is my 5th year. Just 3 of us from Maidstone. Disappointing that we couldn’t get a relay team out this time. However, we managed a sprinkling of decent results. Mine were a bit mixed. Some better than last year, others not. 2 silvers, 3 bronze and a […]
