The main news tonight is that the Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been transferred to Intensive Care in hospital. His Covid -19 condition had worsened. A worrying time for his family and the country.

Meanwhile I spent time today at the Assessment Centre in Mote Park helping to set up a team of Stewards to assist the NHS staff assessing patients which starts from tomorrow. I worked with Andy from Riverside Rotary, who is also my fellow trustee from the Leisure Trust, to identify and clarify the volunteers roles and duties.

The assessment marquees are assembled and as I left some equipment was arriving, but there was great concern amongst front line medics that they hadn’t yet got the PPE they need. Without this they cannot start. Incidentally on FB tonight someone had started crowdfunding to buy disposable gloves for them! Surely the NHS should be proving the protective clothing. I also heard from someone on site that her friend was home making some face masks ! Not a good state of affairs.

In the afternoon I went home and drew up the guidance note for the Stewards and once Andy had added his comments it was sent out to all the 15 or so volunteers who will be taking part. We sincerely hope that assessments can start tomorrow with the staff properly protected.

p.s. Mum’s power sockets all Ok now, back to normal. However, on a final sad note the mother of my friend Keeley, has sadly died today. Keeley is the Director of the Junior Park Run which I help to marshall in normal times.
