With Viv spending her last day with Mum, Sue and I drove to Reculver and cycled 18 miles between Westgate and Herne Bay. A brilliant day out along the coast. We kept well clear of the idiots having beach BBQ parties along the way sometimes with up to 20 or so people together. Obviously social distancing doesn’t apply in this part of the world apparently.

On arriving home, we had a call from Viv. Mum had a terrible night with Mum and Viv has changed her mind about Mum’s overnight care and is now absolutely certain that we must put her in a home immediately. I have rung a few homes tonight but as it is BH weekend. Not a lot of luck. However, I have taken the decision that providing they can now take Mum, she will go into Barty House. I can only confirm that when the manager returns on Tuesday. We are going to have to accept the difficult time of Covid testing and a 10-14 days of isolation but we know that Mum will be safe and looked after 24 hrs a day. Test results take 3 or 4 days after the test which will be Tuesday at the earliest. So transfer will be nearer the end of the week. Initially we will have a month’s respite then it will become permanent. Mum can afford just about one year. After that we have no idea, but it gives us time to sort something out if it goes that long. Not a good end to a lovely day, but we have now exhausted all stay at home options. I will stay overnight with Mum each night until she is transferred. I am not looking forward to this week!

Sue decided not to descend the steps by bike!
