For the unaware TT means Time Trial, a cycling event where we race against the clock over a set course. Today’s was a 10 mile ride near Tenterden. After an early morning start I rode to Biddenden where I met Les and some others from our gang and we made our way to Tenterden for the start. There were 10 racing today and we all start with a 1 minute interval between each rider. I went as no 10, a good position as it saves the embarrassment of being overtaken by anybody. Quite pleased with my time 30.17 just 17 secs outside “evens” . Evens is an average speed throughout of 20 mph. Checking back on records the last TT I did on this course was in Aug 2016 when I did a 29.50, so can’t complain at losing 27 seconds in four years! After today’s race we went back to the Lemon Tree cafe where we enjoyed the 50% off the bill that the Chancellor has given everyone during August to encourage us all to use restaurants and cafes because the Virus restrictions are having a devastating effect on the hospitality economy.

We then rode to the Rose & Crown near Pluckley where also enjoyed another 50% off our lunch. A lovely day, great friendly conversation then after a pint and a half I set off home. For a change I went up Knowle Hill. I forgot what a hard climb it is. Back home after a total of 60.9 miles cycling including the 10 mile TT.
