At 8.00 am this morning I had a call from Barty House to say that although they are still awaiting the results for Mum’s Covid test, they have decided that as Mum has had nearly 3 weeks in quarentine and she shows no symptoms of cover she will be able to leave her room and meet the other residents. On top of that they invited me to visit Mum today which I did.

It has been a warm sunny day so we sat out on the patio. Difficult to chat as Mum’s hearing is not good but I took her a recent photo of Malc and some cards she has received. Her memory has got worse but everyone is so pleased that she is being allowed to mix which she loves doing. I have another visit on Monday before Sue and I go to Devon for a week. We are really looking forward to that now. Richard Reid has been in touch and we will meet him and Carol on Thursday at Bude and have a lovely fresh air walk along the coast path and a natter to catch up on all the news.

Mum looked a lot better than when I last saw her in hospital after her accident. Her head wound has healed nicely and the nurse told me her inflammation and wounds on her legs are improving. I asked the nurse to try and get her hearing aid cleaned up a bit, it may help her to hear. Mum can walk but is unsteady getting up to use her trolley so she needs someone with her when moving about. For that not bad for a 95 year old who has just had a major operation!

I came home from the visit feeling much received so went for a 5km run. It was rubbish, 36 minutes, I’m showing signs of my age now!!
