For the sake of brevity I am not going to write a full script of our lovely break in Devon. Suffice to say we had a great time. Weather unusually warm, we saw all the family. Malc is doing reasonably well but a lot on his plate as they are going to move into a flat overlooking the sea. Downside is much less space and quite restricted. Hope it works out well for them.
We had a day’s walking in Bude with our friends Richard and Carol. Just like old times, we had great day. During our week we also had a bike ride along the Tarka Trail, visited Ilfracombe, Woolacombe, Croyde Bay and on our last day, a superb visit to Boscastle and Tintagel in Cornwall. A very warm day in which we went via the new footbridge onto the island outcrop. The bridge was only opened last year and is spectacular.
Just before we left our lovely Beehive B&B yesterday morning I had a call to say Mum has had another fall. This time only minor injuries. Apparently she moves the pressure alarm mat near her bed out of the way as she said that the alarm keeps bothering the staff!
Today, we have had some rain showers and Autumn has arrived across the country, so we were very lucky during the week away. So it’s decision time for my Blog. Unfortunately, Covid cases are rising sharply and the PM has introduced more stringent measures. Pubs have to close at 10.00 pm which is no great problem for us, as are higher fines for breaking rules, increase in mask use etc etc. Some say it is not going far enough and we should have another lockdown. NI and Scotland have banned two households from mixing. It is likely we will follow suit which will rule out us visiting Reading. Boris has said restrictions might be necessary for another 6 months. So it looks like the Blog should continue, I will do my best.
