Cousin Eric died yesterday. He has been ill for a while but still this is a shock and a great loss. Eric has a large family all living in N Wales, although like me, he came originally from Manchester. His Mum Rosemary was a single parent and my Dad spent a lot of time helping them in the early years. We believe Eric was given his name after our Dad.

I have spoken to Doreen this morning and cousin Robert, following Eric’s passing. Robert will let us have an online link and details for the funeral in due course. Arrangements are being made particularly difficult at the moment due to the full lockdown in Wales.

Yesterday we walked 3 miles into town with the boys and a trip home on a bus. Alex was excited he thought he had never been on a bus, but later found out he had, on several occasions. His birthday is today so he was probably overawed! We took them back to Beckenham in the afternoon and we returned home exhausted after 3 busy but fun days.

Alex’s is eight today. Also it is Sue’s brother Andy’s birthday, he is sixty. Also Andy became a Grandad for the first time today, a baby boy born to Jessica in Dubai.

I visited Mum today. I told her about Eric. She was very understanding but felt felt sorry for Doreen and family. Once again she seems to be doing very well, darts and quiz yesterday. The home is starting to prepare for Christmas, Mum is looking forward to it! She is very settled and enjoying her new home, importantly she feels safe. Oh! one thing, she has now lost her second pair of glasses, but when quizzed she just says ” They will turn up”! and I’m sure she is right!
