A wet and windy day brought more news of the loss of two great well known people. Entertainer Des O’Connor aged 88 and Liverpool and England football legend, Ray Clemence. He was only 72 and died of prostate cancer. Both sad losses and will be missed by millions.

Congratulations to Lewis Hamilton who today has broken Michael Schumacher’s 7 year F1 championship record and Adam Peaty has once again broken another World Breastroke Record. This time short course 100m in 55.49 secs! Wow ! the previous record had stood for 11 years. The fastest I ever did that in my very young days was 1 min 25 secs. and I thought I was good! The last time I competed at that event was 2019 when I was third in South East Masters in 1:53:27. That was twice as long as Peaty! If I was racing him, over the four lengths I would have only been just finishing my second length when he finished. Ho hum, can’t win “em all!

As for Covid, the creator of the new vaccine says that he hopes that once the it has been rolled out to 90% of the population we should be rid of Covid by next winter. That’s good then only another year of lockdowns and restrictions!

Sue I spent some time today sorting out our Xmas card list and have decided to reduce it somewhat. We have ordered our charity cards online this year. As for Xmas we aren’t expecting any great reduction of the virus especially as the South East now has the greatest percentage increase in cases in the country. We are not making plans to meet family. Unfortunately, we do know of close friends who are going to have mixed family gatherings whatever the rules say. I am sure many will take that line. Not a good omen for stopping the spread of the virus.
