A lovely day for my ride. Sun shining and up to 15 degrees.. in November!

Met MikeB at Brenchley then off to coffee at Hartley. Only take aways allowed. I can understand the need for the general rule in lockdown but the cafe had a nice outdoor decking with tables and chairs but we were not allowed there so sat on the wall in the car park. Never mind there was another couple of oldie cyclists and we hovered around one of their bikes. A lovely plum coloured Trek ebike which allows battery removal for charging. It was a beautiful bike. Only £3.5 grand, I’m going to get one when I’m old!

We carried on to Sissinghurst and Frittenden then back to Mike’s house at Brenchley where I was treated once again to coffee and two Waitrose mince pies. Lovely. Back home having completed over 53 miles so a good day all round.

Mum seems to have had a good day, did poetry reading and reminiscing with staff, went back to her room for a rest then back to activities ‘cos cake and coffee had arrived. According to the care notes she told the carers that she is happy to be in Barty they are all so nice to her. All very re-assuring that she is the right place.

Meanwhile Kent has now hit the headlines after several months of being amongst the lowest recorded Covid cases, Swale has not got to number 2 in England with around 600 cases per 100k population and much of Kent is hard on it’s heels, Maidstone is rising and well above 200. We have been warned that once the national lockdown ends at beginning of December we will all in Kent go into Tier 3 which is much the same as a full lockdown. Just to confuse matters Nationally they are thinking of relaxing most restrictions for a couple of days at Xmas but we will have to all lockdown afterwards to balance it!

Good news though after telling us that our Bournemouth two night hotel stay has been cancelled again and not opening till March, the hotel has booked us in as soon as they have opened and the voucher company have said because of the pandemic they will honour the voucher to June. Fingers crossed!
