A major climate change online meeting with heads of the worlds main countries took place today. President Biden making a great announcement that the US has pledged to cut carbon emissions by 50-52% below 2005 levels by the year 2030. Quite a turn round from the Trump era. EU has agreed to cut CO2 emissions by 50 – 52% by 2030. All good news but unfortunately, the leaders of India and China, two of the world’s biggest emitters, made no new commitments. UK have agreed to speed up our reduction of carbon emissions.

There has been a slight increase in Maidstone’s number of Covid cases but it still only half of the national average. There had been a warning that there will be a rise as we see restrictions gradually lifted, at the moment it doesn’t seem too significant. Once again we are told to be sensible and keep to social distancing and use masks where close contact occurs. The weather has gone nuts this April. Lowest rainfall in years, most sunshine and coldest temperatures. We can sit in the garden sheltered from the wind and it is like mid summer. Walk a few yards where the wind blows and it’s coats and gloves on. We have bought some plants for the garden pots. I am having to store them in the garage overnight as we are having ground frosts on most mornings!

I went for a run this afternoon. Just over seven miles and 741ft of hill climbing. Still someway off Mt Everest target but I will get there unless there is an avalanche on Old Loose Hill! Good news about friend Steve who was nearly killed in a hit a run, he managed a 2 mile walk today, amazing progress.

Dental review appointment cancelled today due to the X Ray machine not working. However, I have told the dentist that I want the tooth out, so I am booked in on Monday afternoon for an extraction soon after visiting Mum.
