It was great to have Mike and family down for the day, the boys were were excited to see us again. The heavy rain wasn’t expected till the evening but it was getting stronger through the day. however, I lit up the chiminera which stuart bought us several years ago but this is the first time we have used it. With a bag of logs from sustainable forests I lit up and we all sat outside for coffee and snacks. We played games and Sue did a quiz for the boys so they were kept occupied. Conditions deteriorated so we created through ventilation indoors and had a roast lunch then outside again for more games etc. The boys were somewhat lively, but that’s nothing unusual. They left for home with stomachs full and feeling tired and so were we! A busy but lovely day.

This weekend we had two days of vaccinations. All 2nd jabs and Sunday was slower as we had several people with learning difficulties which meant we had to give a bit more guidance. Once again everyone was very grateful. Since we started in December we have had over 16, 000 doses of vaccines administered to patients. Not bad for a small surgery.

UK is still keeping new cases and deaths very low with much the same stats as last September. There is a lot of pressure to lessen restrictions and they have just trialled a controlled disco type event without restrictions. Several thousand but they all had to have a negative test immediately before. It will be interesting to see the results. The big fear is opening up international travel particularly as many countries are still in a very bad way especially India where there is still no let up in cases and deaths. Hopefully, there will be a traffic light system for countries and entry will be strictly controlled this time. If we stay on course, our trip to Spain is looking hopeful.

Our GreatHomeRun event has finished and we have raised about £4000 for our charities. A great success with all those taking part getting some useful exercise and in most cases a lot of fun. Andy is considering running it again next year. In the meantime I am now stepping up preparations for the 21 for 21 Shelterbox event which will be held on 24th June. Once again a lot to organise but hopefully it will go ahead this year.

Off with Sue to see Mum tomorrow then later I hope to have another swim at the Leisure Centre. Still not warm enough for the lake!

It’s only May – not warm yet.!
