I was privileged today to ride the annual 100k event this year with Uncle Les and teammate Mike. Both are knocking on the door of becoming octogenarians. Only a few weeks after his nasty crash when Les broke his shoulder and some ribs he is back on the road and sporting a brand new titanium Enigma bike. Today’s ride went well until Charing when a strong headwind slowed us down considerably. With an hour to go till the 5 hour cut off point it  didn’t look like we would make it in time. Even Mike planned to abandon at Horsmonden as he lives nearby and it would save him the ride home from Claygate. However, once we reached Horsmonden we decided it was possible and a long sprint got us home with 10 minutes to spare. After a deserved pint with Les I made my way home although Linton Hill was feeling  steeper than it had when we went up there 5 hours earlier.

Since getting home I have been extremely tired and I am just amazed how well the other two rode. If I can ride like that when I am almost 80 I’ll have no complaints. Vive le Aged
