What a brilliant day!  Nearly 2000 athletes including elites, paras and juniors. Liverpool is a lovely city now. Took time before the start to look around. Great place to visit and lovely weather.  My Olympic Distance race started at 8.00am so reasonably cool but was pretty warm by the run.  A good swim in 27:11 a bit of bother when my number catch caught in wetsuit zip. Helped by a fellow competitor- what a star! Long transition ( 4.07) to bike. Another good leg on closed roads similar to Turkey. No puncture this time and finished in 1:08:22. Onto the run. Usual steady plod but was surprised when i went sub 50 in in 49.45 after a 2:44 transition.  Out of 24 starters I came 8th. Very pleased with that as all the country’s top athletes were in it. Michael Smallwood finished first in 2:22, awesome!

Now it’s all down to the World Championships in London on Sept 15th. Can’t wait to take part, but sad that it will be my last triathlon ever. However, I have done well on my knee replacement and have no wish for another one for a few years yet. So get out whilst I am fit and well, although not quite winning.
