After a couple of lake training sessions I took the plunge in the Thames at Windsor for the Human Race Windsor 3 Km Swim. Due to strong currents the route was changed to go around a small island making it very congested. 3 laps was actually 2.7Km but despite kicking, pulling and punching I got around the course in just over 47 mins. Water temperature was 15.1 degrees so OK. A bit of cramp on exit but otherwise a good swim. Only two in my age group, I was fastest but the other guy did it without a wetsuit, so he was the real winner! I was, however, the oldest person swimming out of 500 in total.

Great fun, helped along by my coach Stuart, many thanks.

A quieter bit of water to stretch out my stroke.
